New year, new number – 2017. New city, new job, new tax form, new ID, new library, new resolutions.
New attention, new hope, new perspective, new dreams.
Still old dreams, old friends, same old fears, same old shows.
I figure whatever I start in January with rigor will stick with me by June in some iteration. I’ve deleted all social apps off of my phone so as to live more presently and recognize that everyone does not need to see my every move. I know it’s interesting but I frankly do not care if you like my breakfast 45 likes or 400. My gooey egg sandwich was bomb and thats all I need to know or remember.
I post what I like and I don’t want to attach any sort of importance to a photo liked 4 times or 100 because to me, they were equally important, equally enough that they both got their own post. Apart from that, I’ve been experimenting with different mediums -in the social, artistic, creative and intellectual space and it all feels very right.
- Social – limit connections online to only when a computer is present. Phones are just for calls/texts. Using different mediums – particularly focused on VSCO.
- Artistic – poetry and new canvases – particularly fabric and bodies (through yoga). Also focusing on photography.
- Creative – focusing on writing something every day whether it be dream recollection or short story ideas. working out different jokes.
- Intellectual – trying to solve without Google. Researching through inquisition and reading 1 book at week if possible.
